12 Flat Horses To Follow 2020
PINATUBO was the clear standout two-year-old last season and brushed aside every horse he faced on his way to two group one successes. A perfect record of 6 from 6 makes him the one to beat going into the season and its certainly exciting to think how good he could be. Expect bookies to be terrified and offer very short prices however.
EARTHLIGHT is another unbeaten horse and has some very good form lines already, beating the likes of Raffle Prize and winning dual grade one’s last season. Although both wine were neck victories, the fact the horse gets its head in front shows it can dig in and can be a real one to follow. Another one the bookies will be scared of.
KING OF CHANGE trained by Richard Hannon was a good runner up in the 2000 Guineas at a very big price. It then went on to win the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Ascot on heavy, making the horse a group one winner. Hannon has said the horse has benefited from the winter and believes it could be one of the best horses the yard ever had. KOC has never finished outside of the top 2 and has won on a variety of grounds. It sure looks like it could be one to follow this season.
MAGICAL served it up to some very good horses last season, finishing second to the likes of Enable and Crystal Ocean, as well as winning grade 1’s along the way. Also beating the likes of Addeybb and Deirdre at Ascot, the horse certainly is talented. The form line speaks for itself and this Royal Ascot winner could be in for another successful season if the horse can repeat the same form as last season.
INNISFREE won a group 2 on heavy last season and was beaten by Kameko in a group one at Newcastle in November on the all weather track. The horse beat Mogul and Year Of The Tiger that two who are two very talented horses and could be one to watch depending on what plans Aidan O’Brien has for the coming season.
PALACE PIER is yet to put a foot wrong for John Gosden and has won its first two races fairly comfortably. This unbeaten Kingman colt cost 600,000 Guineas as a yearling and is an exciting talent that should be destined for big thing this season when we see him on the racecourse. Gosden has made his intentions clear by saying he intends to take his time with this horse, meaning the races will be carefully picked, showing it’s held in high regard at the stable.
GOLDEN HORDE race a cracker at Newmarket last time out when a neck second to the highly regarded Earthlight. It beat some very good horses that day from a great ride from Adam Kirby, and won a group 2 race prior to that day. The horse has improved each run and has reversed form with the likes of Arizona, showing it has the ability to more than compete in this class.
AL MAYSAN has two runs under it belt and has two wins on the all weather already. Its first win at Chelmsford wasn’t straightforward with Kirby getting to work early on in the race, but showed it class as it went on to win. It then went on to a narrow win at Newcastle in another novice race and this colt looks like he’s learning and winning at the same time. Godolphin will surely have this horse out on the track soon and hopefully this Dubawi colt can continue to improve.
KINGSWEAR absolutely blew away the opposition on his second start when winning by 10 lengths at Wolverhampton. His first start wasn’t so good but the horse obviously improved and won easily next time out, as well as the second placed horse going on to win too. Another Dubawi colt that could be promising.
TO NATHANIEL has been improving with each run and managed to get its head in front on its latest start. The form of that win has been franked massively with the second and fourth placed horses going on to win next time out. That form speaks for itself, and this Nathaniel colt could progress further based on that.
ALRAJAA is a talented horse from Gosden’s stable who won its last four races under Jim Crowley. Its unbeaten on the all-weather and most recently won a class 2 at Lingfield in cosy fashion. It will be exciting to see if this horse can take the step up but he certaintly has the potential to.
WALDKONIG looked a real star went unleashed by John Gosden at Wolverhampton back in December. This half brother to Waldgeist won by 9 lengths that day which certainly caught the eye of everybody. It definitely looked special that day and with further improvement this horse could certainly be one to keep an eye on this season.
